Sign your organization on now to urge NY Senators to champion Congressional hearings into the abuses of power and law by FERC!

Communities nationwide have suffered enough at the hands of FERC in a variety of ways which have been well documented in the People's Dossier of FERC Abuses. Despite this extensive body of evidence, we have yet to find a senate leader willing to call for Congressional hearings into the repeated abuses of this rogue agency.

Since the Senate recently restored the quorum necessary for FERC to make decisions on natural gas infrastructure projects, it is now more urgent than ever to hold hearings into the abuses of power and law by FERC. Sign on to our letter now urging NY Senators to take a stand.

As an example of this abuse, in the review of the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company LLC’s Orion Project, FERC deliberately concealed information from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection on a project alternative that would, “eliminate the need for 12.9 miles of new pipeline construction, which would eliminate 30 waterbody crossings, 13 road crossings, and impacts on wetlands and other land use impacts along the pipeline route”, and therefore could have had a substantial influence on the public and state perspective regarding Clean Water Act Section 401 Certification.

Based on information and data we have on the Millennium Pipeline project, we believe it is highly likely that a similar scenario is playing out, right now, in the state of New York. Given that we are talking about the all-powerful FERC, it is critical that NY Senators Schumer and Gillibrand rise up to help defend and vindicate the rights of the state.

  • Expert analysis, conducted by Accufacts Inc., confirms that Millennium has improperly split its Eastern System Upgrade project (ESU) from an overall planned expansion of its natural gas pipeline system in an attempt to avoid a more rigorous comprehensive environmental review of the construction activity.

  • Millennium’s ESU is characterized as an upgrade of its current pipeline project through the installation of a pipeline loop; a new compressor station and additional compression at an existing compressor station; and modifications and activities at other associated facilities.

  • According to expert review and information on the record, it is clear Millennium is implementing this upgrade as just one step in a much larger expansion plan, one that includes a second pipeline along its 220 mile pipeline length.

Help us protect communities nationwide from the harms inflicted by natural gas infrastructure by signing your organization on now to urge Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to call for Congressional hearings into the abuses of power and law of FERC.
