DRBC will be taking regulatory action soon and we need your help -

Join the Delaware Riverkeeper Network’s own Erik Silldorff, PhD, and Nick Patton, Esq., as they review the history, status, and pressing need for action to finish the restoration work in the Delaware River for dissolved oxygen.

Overview:  The Delaware River from Philadelphia to Camden was once so grossly polluted that it completely lacked oxygen, and all of the fish and other species that need oxygen to breathe.  Because of bold action in the 1960s and 1970s to clean up the river, this tidal estuary began an amazing recovery that now boasts large spawning populations of Striped Bass, American Shad, and other key species.  But the job is not complete. Dissolved oxygen levels in the summer months are still sometimes lethal. The Delaware River Basin Commission has proposed a path forward that requires further study and continued foot dragging, and scheduled a hearing to discuss this topic on April 6th at 2pm. We must get DRBC to recognize that fish propagation is already occurring so that industrial and municipal facilities stop discharging nutrients at levels that prevent these fish from reproducing. Join us to learn more about this problem, the solutions that are within reach, and how you can ensure another decade isn’t squandered while fish suffer.
