Call for Governors to Vote for Full Fracking Ban

Join us Wednesday, June 12, 1:30 pm at the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) public meeting.
Gather at 12:30 pm for outside action

West Trenton Volunteer Fire Company,
40 W. Upper Ferry Rd,
Ewing Township, N.J.

NJ Governor Phil Murphy, PA Governor Tom Wolf, and DE Governor John Carney stated on May 16 their individual support for a complete ban on fracking in the Delaware River Watershed, including a ban on the importation, processing and discharge of toxic frack wastewater, and the exportation of water for fracking elsewhere.  NY Governor Andrew Cuomo was not at the summit where the statements were made but has historically been strong on this issue and is urged to join the Governors’ pronouncement.

We’re going to the DRBC’s June 12 meeting with a unified message for a vote to be taken by the Commissioners as soon as possible to enact the full ban.  We want a DRBC vote to fully ban fracking in the Delaware River Watershed and we want it now!

We, as a watershed community, have been working for the DRBC’s 2010 temporary gas drilling moratorium to be made permanent for years, especially since the proposed gas regulations were issued in 2017 and the comment period closed in March 2018 but no action to enact the full ban has been taken yet.  We and tens of thousands of people have been calling for the Governors, whom are the voting members of the DRBC along with the federal representative from the Army Corps, to enact a full ban on fracking, frack waste imports and water exports for fracking.  This is essential to protect the water resources of the Delaware River for the millions that rely upon our watershed for drinking water, recreation, economic prosperity and healthy ecosystems.  It is also critical to help in the international effort to protect present and future generations from the devastating ravages of climate change exacerbated by the uncontrollable greenhouse gas emissions that fracking unleashes when methane escapes into the atmosphere.

PLEASE JOIN US in front of the Fire Hall entrance at 12:30 pm before the public meeting – bring signs that speak for the river and our watershed calling for a full fracking ban NOW!
