DRN’s worked diligently for three years with the local community to oppose a polluting sludge drying plant that would have harmed public health and polluted two creeks classified as “High Quality” by PADEP –the Little Bushkill Creek and Waltz Creek. The project was the subject of unwavering well-organized local opposition and was deeply examined by the Plainfield Twp. Planning Commission. Despite huge investment and public relations efforts by one of the largest sludge companies, and the proposal of flawed drafts of state permits by PADEP, the local government refused to approve the project and Synagro ended up abandoning it.
