In July 2020, Geryville Materials withdrew its application to open a quarry in the Hosensack watershed. First proposed in 2008, and revised in 2014 and 2015, this quarry targeted up to 628.5 acres, much of which is forested. The site includes Exceptional Value wetlands and a Class A trout stream. The applicant was issued deficiency letters by PADEP in 2015 and in 2017. Among the listed deficiencies were many issues raised by the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, including some issues that we alone appear to have raised. PADEP has processed Geryville Materials’ request; the quarry application is no longer valid. If the applicant refiles, they will be starting from scratch, and will need to overcome the same barriers that prevented the project from moving forward previously.
