Help Stop the Vexatious Attack on PA’s Right To Know Law

Tell Your Senator to Vote NO on SB525

The Pennsylvania Right To Know Law is under attack by a terrible bill – SB525.
But you can do something about it by calling your Senator today!

SB525 adds a section to Pennsylvania’s Right To Know law where a requester can be deemed “vexatious” by an agency and become categorized as a “vexatious requester”. Once the Office of Open Records (OOR) grants relief from an alleged “vexatious requester”, the agency can get a file requester banned from getting files for up to one year. The requester can be banned just for having filed previous requests or requests deemed too broad.

Being stigmatized as “vexatious”, a person or organization will not be able to exercise their right to receive records, closing off one of the most important means the public uses to stay informed on government actions and regulations in Pennsylvania. This prejudicial bill would move the government further out of reach of the public and dim agency transparency. This proposed gutting of Pennsylvania’s Right to Know law is blatantly unfair and must be stopped. You can read the full proposed language HERE.

We need you to call your State Senator today and tell them to VOTE NO on SB525. You can find your state Senator by looking up your address here.
