River Hands
These volunteers work on special projects like stream bank restoration and river cleanups. Special projects take place at different times and locations throughout the year and the watershed. No special training is required. All you have to do is show up willing to help. River Hands are notified of special project volunteer opportunities through the newsletter. This is a great opportunity for families and friends to get together, lend a hand and have some fun!

River Stewards
These volunteers observe local waterways on a regular basis and report concerns and problems. A guidebook is provided and volunteers are notified of training opportunities during the year. Training opportunities include how to conduct biological surveys, stream mapping and more. How far you go is up to you. This is a great group for fishing fans, boaters, and others who live, work or play on the water! Ready to get started?
Join NowHome Waters Activists
These volunteers receive educational alerts when there is a current issue or hot topic in their watershed. They take action and speak out by educating their neighbors, writing letters, attending meetings and public hearings, and talking to public officials about threats to their local watershed. These are volunteers who raise their voice to protect their home waters. No special training is necessary. You choose your area of interest and types of actions. This is the group for people who are interested in advocacy and proactive protection!

River Monitors
These volunteers perform chemical water quality tests, survey for sediment pollution and participate in macroinvertebrate surveys at test sites in the watershed. Tests are conducted biweekly and all data is recorded in logs. Monitors receive ftraining and attend periodic reviews and quality assurance sessions. Monitors can also assist in securing funding to cover the cost of the test kits and chemicals by recruiting or being site sponsors. We currently have 82 active sites in the watershed. You can join a site near you or work at a new site as soon as funding is secured. This group requires dedication and training, but the experience is worth it!
