Sign the Petition for Open Government Decision-making!
The Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) is considering approval of a request for an extension of the proposed Gibbstown LNG Export Terminal Dock (called DOCK 2), first approved in 2019 and extended in 2022. The public fought this massive, dangerous LNG export project for years but it was nonetheless approved. The project has not been built and they now want yet another extension of their permit despite the fact it is obsolete and should be cancelled entirely.
There will be NO PUBLIC HEARING for this permit UNLESS three or more Commission members – comprised of the governors of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Delaware and the federal representative from the Army Corps of Engineers – ask the Executive Director in writing to schedule one or vote during a public meeting of the Commission to provide one, according to DRBC rules.
We need the bright light of day to be shown on this crucial decision that will decide the fate of this highly controversial, environmentally destructive and publicly rejected LNG export project. Good government decision-making requires the public to have a say, and it requires those making the all-important decisions to make a full and fair decision based on the voices of those who will be indelibly impacted by what they decide. We need to be heard!
PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION TO THE GOVERNORS of NY, NJ, PA and DE – THE DRBC COMMISSIONERS – REQUESTING THEY ASK THE DRBC IN WRITING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING NOW!
And please JOIN US for an organizing zoom meeting Monday, April 21, 6:30pm to learn more and how to comment on this permit extension. Register here.
