The National Park Service, after careful review, has determined that the proposal to transform a primarily tent camping business into one dominated by RVs, sewage hookups, glamping facilities, and a new big pool, all along or near the Wild & Scenic Upper Delaware River, does not comport with essential protections this special River reach is entitled to.
Rather than issue this determination to reject the proposal, in the works is a closed door meeting between the National Park Service, Upper Delaware Council, Town of Highland Planning Commission and the applicant for the FIMFO project to “negotiate” a path forward that removes the National Park Service opposition and allows the project to move forward.
This kind of backroom negotiation between a developer and government officials in order to remove government opposition to a project that will harm our Upper Delaware River corridor is fundamentally wrong.
Sign on to urge the National Park Service to refuse to attend the meeting; or at the very least to require that it be open to the public for observation so we can all witness the negotiation and the deals that made.
