Come ready to spend the day along the riverbank with fellow fishing enthusiasts. No experience necessary and we will have a limited amount of fishing equipment provided, feel free to bring your own rod if you have one! All you need to do is show up eager to learn! We will cover the basics of fishing: how to tie knots, cast, untangle lines, and reeling in the fish once hooked.
Additionally, we will have an arts and crafts table for all ages, including educational information on freshwater fish, fishing, and watersheds, and more to keep you busy when you aren't fishing or if you want to join us, but are unsure if fishing is right for you. Delaware Riverkeeper Network staff will also have a dry-land fishing skills expo set up if you are a fishing novice or need a refresher before you cast into the River!
To accomplish this the Delaware Riverkeeper Network is teaming up with the Pottstown NAACP and The Ricketts Center.
This project received funding through the R3 Education Grant Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
Snacks and refreshments made possible thanks to Wegmans Collegeville.
