New Fortress Energy’s proposed fracked gas Import Terminal in Shannon Ireland is being fought by the people there who would be impacted by this terrible idea. The LNG is supposed to come to Ireland from Gibbstown, NJ on the Delaware River. The proposed Gibbstown LNG Export Terminal is being fought on this end by a coalition of groups. Fracked gas developer New Fortress Energy wants to build a terminal on the Delaware River in Gibbstown, NJ to export Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). This reckless and convoluted plan to frack gas in Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale region, liquefy it in Wyalusing, PA and truck or rail it up to 200 miles through hundreds of communities to the proposed Gibbstown LNG Export Terminal where it would be loaded onto ships to send out on the ocean, hinges on the LNG having a place to be sold overseas. However, the world is changing beneath New Fortress’ feet as nations pivot from polluting, climate-killing fossil fuels to renewable and truly clean energy sources.
