Water is Life: Don't Waste it on Fracking

The Case for a Full Ban on Fracking in the Watershed! Please join the Delaware River Frack Ban coalition’s webinar forum!

Wednesday, September 15, 7:00 to 8:00 pm
Registration is open NOW:

Water is the heart and soul of the Delaware River Watershed, sustaining communities and life and providing drinking water for up to 17 million people.  The Basin is under attack by the shale gas industry that wants to withdraw water from the watershed, exporting it to frack regions outside its boundaries. Not only does this threaten the waters of the Delaware with depletion and unrecoverable loss of flow, but it also would support and fuel fracking in other communities, an unethical proposition.

Ted Auch

Special guest speaker Dr. Ted Auch, FracTracker Alliance, is a photographer and published author of several scientific papers and articles, with his current work focusing on bringing to light data gaps associated with the waste, water, and land-use footprint of the unconventional oil and gas build-out. Dr. Auch will explain the enormous sea change in the volume of water being used in today’s fracked wells in Pennsylvania’s Marcellus shale. An eye-opening presentation by an expert who has mined the data fields of the fracking industry to discover the facts!

Peter Demicco

Peter Demicco, Registered Professional Geologist in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, hydrogeologist, and an expert in ground water recharge, stream base flow, and stream hydrology will discuss the impacts of depletive and consumptive uses of water and how climate change is effecting our natural hydrologic systems.

The Delaware River Basin Commission will propose regulations by September 30 that either will ban the export of water for fracking elsewhere or will allow it. Despite the ban on fracking adopted by DRBC in February of this year, they are still considering allowing our water to be taken to fuel fracking outside the watershed.  We want a FULL ban that completely prohibits the withdrawal and export of the Delaware River Watershed’s water – please join with us to learn how to make the case for a FULL BAN on fracking and its operations.

As we emerge from Earth’s hottest July on record, according to NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, and 11 western states are in extreme drought, according to National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, we here in the Delaware River watershed face water depletion that will be driven by the hand of the gas industry, compounding the changes forced by a warming planet. We say NO to wasting our water!

Let’s make certain they don’t frack with our water! Join us September 15 to learn all about it!

This webinar is presented by the Delaware River Frack Ban Coalition.
